SATISFIED CUSTOMERS

Ted, Jennifer, and Peyton visited last week to conduct a K9 investigation for mold in our 16-month old house. We knew there was mold in our house (some we had found ourselves, and probable traces from a prior remediation early this year) but since we have discovered more and more deficiencies in construction since closing, we were eager to get the most comprehensive look at our entire building to make sure all possible problem areas were discovered at once.
My mind is thoroughly blown by this dog's capabilities. As a mold-sick person, I'm usually able to sense mold to some degree myself, and as I mentioned, we have already had some remediation done. Ted not only zeroed in on areas we already knew about (providing confidence in his accuracy), but found other areas to investigate. A few of these were in rooms we had suspicions about but no real idea where to look. The very next day, it rained heavily, and moisture metering in the garage and in our bedroom where he had marked confirmed it--the wall bays are wet inside the Sheetrock. There is definitely mold growing in there, since all it takes is 12-72 hours of elevated moisture plus cellulose (wood or drywall).
We are not new to mold or remediation. This will be our fourth remediation in any building we've lived in. We know very well how difficult it can be to find every last bit of mold and every problem area short of cutting into drywall everywhere and lifting up all the flooring, and human methods are limited by the fact that after damaged materials dry, the mold remains but your moisture meter isn't going to pick up on the damage. I think Ted's inspection furnished the same level of information without us having to damage any part of our house (or expose ourselves to spores and mycotoxins by disturbing materials), and was very competitively priced compared to what mold dog services run in the Lower 48 (especially considering that they spent 11 hours on us, including four hours of inspection and seven hours of driving). This level of insight is incredibly valuable in saving time, money, headache, and work trying to restore our house. Now we know exactly where to follow up. We can skip the air samples that look for the problem to begin with, and will have an IEP do cavity sampling and look for causes of water intrusion, and then we will have a better idea of how much remediation and expense we are looking at exactly. Jennifer and Peyton and family have personally experienced mold poisoning and are generous with insight, knowledge, and resource recommendations. Their path to recovery has yielded relationships with some of the most reputable people across the country working in the mold arena. Even before their visit, Jennifer had already spent at least a half hour discussing our problem and troubleshooting the inspection, and she has continued to follow up at no additional charge. Her passion to help others is clear to see. When she completes her training to become a certified mold inspector alongside her dog, she will be an incredibly valuable help to many Alaskans.
